Digital sovereignty is now at, or near the top, of CIOs’ agendas. And cyber resilience is a key goal for the CISO.

But can resilience and sovereignty work together? Are they opposed, or are they two sides of the same coin? As organisations set out to improve resilience, they are also discovering that it is not just where data are that matters. It is also about rebuilding infrastructure and systems. And if those systems are outside your sovereign control, recovery could be all but impossible.

And it is geopolitics that is throwing all this into sharp relief.

In this CISO Interview, we discuss sovereignty and resilience, and the link between them, data and global events, with Kim Larsen, CISO at Keepit.

With a career spanning policing, government and the private sector, Larsen has witnessed the growing influence of geopolitics on cybersecurity. And he suggests both businesses and public sector bodies need to think about not just where their data are, but how to guarantee access to their technology if the worst does happen.
